Forgotten Dances is an ongoing project of transcriptions for wind quintet of Romantic-era solo piano "dances." The music highlights lesser-known works and pieces composed by historically marginalized composers. All are wonderful additions to the wind quintet repertoire, and serve to remind us of the rich discoveries that can be made when we engage with music that has been unjustly overlooked. All transcriptions were created by David Plylar, District5's transcriber-in-residence.

      Volume I includes music of Amy Beach, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor. It was released on December 6th, 2024 via Youtube and is set to be released on all other major streaming platforms shortly.

       Volume 2 will be released in Spring, 2025 and will include the music of Theresa Carreño, Camille Chaminade, and Nikolai Medtner.
